for archiving purposes, these are just copied and pasted from discord conversations and i'll probably come back to edit and add more
i think its so interesting that seongmin is so soft and openly affectionate with allen compared to the other members
allen knowing that seongmin looks up to him so much and loves this version of him so allen never opens up about his trauma or becomes vulnerable at all because he doesnt want to ruin that happy image that seongmin has of him
i think it is more obvious (at least to me) that seongmin is sometimes a bit self-conscious or insecure while allen is fairly confident in his position, but you can dig on a deeper level and create a characterization of seongmin also as more naive and hopeful about (idol) life and allen being jaded/toughened out by past experiences
allen would certainly have a much better idea of what it's like as an idol since he has many friends and past experiences before starship while seongmin didn't seem to be going down the path of being an idol at all before starship
and seongmin has the safety net of currently attending uni and easily being able to return to his family while allen really gave up everything to try to be an idol
i think with seongmin too its like. serim (and the other hyungs) probably has expectations for him to be well behaved or like not do anything dangerous
i think seongmin does take pride in being the good/well behaved one but at the same time it restrains him or puts this pressure on him where he cant do anything out of line
like that story wonjin said one time about how seongmin would get the cameraman to follow him before going to hug wonjin and hissing at him to cooperate
it could either get sad (seongmin has to confront the fact that he IS playing it up for the camera and that allen can see right through him) or cute (seongmin does think that way and gets mad that allen doesnt think of himself as cute and keeps insisting on it)
seongmin mixes up his feelings in truth and lies and now he cant separate them anymore
